WHO WE ARE

About SWUS

We are a small privately owned diagnostic ultrasound service catering to the south-west Victorian region.

Southwest Ultrasound is dedicated to providing optimal-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care to our valued community. As a healthcare provider, we are very much committed to quality care, compassion and service.

Our primary Sonographer Julie Noonan has over 13 years Sonography experience with her masters in medical Sonography. She has experience working in rural, remote and metro areas around Australia covering all general ultrasound studies.

Our friendly reception staff are here to greet you, book your appointments and help out with any queries that you may have.

We have a state of the art Philips Epiq 5 machine with shear wave technology, allowing us to obtain optimal imaging even when scanning patients with difficult body habitus.

As a privately owned business with no government funding, it is no longer financially viable to provide all scans at a bulk-billed rate. As of the 1st of January 2023, all scans will be privately billed – at a competitive rate. Concession card holders will continue to be bulk billed.

Costs and rebates will vary depending on the scan required and Medicare claiming rules.

Costs will be explained at the time of booking, with payments required via EFTPOS at the time of service. Medicare claims will be submitted by us immediately, with rebates being available in patients nominated bank accounts over-night.

We have a state of the art Philips Epiq 5 machine with sheer wave technology, allowing us to obtain optimal imaging even when scanning patients with difficult body habitus.

Our reporting radiologists are located in Queensland and are highly experienced with teleradiology reporting with reports available in 24 hours.

Johnstone Court

Our Terang clinic is located in the rear of the historic Johnstone Court arcade. Built in 1925 by Winifred Lilian Johnstone (1862-1946), the symmetrical brick building extends for more than 40 metres along the main street of Terang. It’s an intact example of an early twentieth century shopping arcade. It is a significant example of Camperdown’s Architect W P Knights and a demonstration of the wealth of country Victoria in the 1920s. It also stands as a reminder of a time, when power production was operated by local authorities.
